Barn Hunt
Let’s find those
rats! Barn Hunt is a wonderful sport that allows your pup to use their natural
hunting instinct. In this class dogs will learn to use their nose to work
through a variety of different odor pictures while hunting a rat protected in a
strong PVC tube. Each search presents a new puzzle to solve! Dogs will also
learn the two other key components of barn hunt: climbing on hay bales and
tunneling. These classes are appropriate for dogs of any skill level, as we
tailor each exercise to each individual. From brand new dogs to experienced
teams, all are welcome!

Nosework
Nosework Foundations is a wonderful game for any dog! In this introductory
course we will use your dog’s primary reward (food) to teach them the
foundation of the game, get them focused on the search, and build their
intensity to hunt. The human part of the team will also hone their
observational skills as they discover how to read their dog’s body language and
begin to learn their search style. This class is a great option for low impact
mental stimulation, and tires your pup without putting a lot of physical stress
on their bodies. It is truly a wonderful activity for any dog of any age and
ability level, and a fantastic confidence builder as well!

Foundations? Introduction to Odor is the next step towards preparing your dog

To give teams varied practice in multiple environments, this class takes place both on and off site at Rotten Dog and nearby locations.
